The diving in Thailand is superb. Water temperature is usually between 84 and 88 degrees F.; clarity usually exceeds 100ft. More important, the variety and number of fish and invertebrates are second to none. Corals are believed to have originated in the seas adjacent to the Malay Peninsula.

Since many species of fish are associated with particular species of corals, there are more kinds to be seen on a single dive than are listed for the entire Caribbean.

Whale sharks, long believed to be rare, are commonly encountered from February through April. Mantas, ribbon eels, frogfish, tunas and marlin are frequently seen in addition to a variety of butterfly fish, many kinds of grouper, cod and other reef fishes. We also see turtles, sea snakes, dolphin and whales.

Pods of dolphins swim with our sailboats and play with our snorkelers. Day trips to nearby reefs and islands, usually allowing two dives, but occasionally more, are easily arranged. We provide expert guides and instructors who are also skilled and knowledgeable naturalists.

You can participate in coral reef research as a volunteer in the global Reef Check '98 program. You can help count fish and check the health of a reef either as a diver or a snorkeler.

You may even sign up for the PADI underwater naturalist course which we teach in addition to other SCUBA courses, all of which include certification. Trips are also available to the Mergui Archipelago, 800 uninhabited islands off the Southwest coast of Burma. These trips may be specifically dive, dive, dive trips, or can emphasize island exploration and snorkeling with some diving included.
